At various times in its history, the park has been used as a parade ground, a place for mass rallies and a public park.
Behind, the Altes Museum (German for Old Museum), is one of several internationally renowned museums on Berlin's Museum Island in Berlin, Germany. Until 1845, it was called the Royal Museum.
